Résumé |
I will discuss recent work on the normal charge density in quantum
critical superfluids. The work is motivated by recent experiments on
overdoped cuprate superconductors which indicate a non-zero density of
uncondensed charge carriers at zero temperature. I will show this is
consistent with translation invariant two-fluid hydrodynamics and is a
consequence of an underlying quantum critical phase. I illustrate this with
a holographic model of superfluidity which exhibits similar transport
properties. Time permitting, I will discuss expectations for the normal
charge density in critical phases with generic critical exponents. |
