Heavy neutrinos at the LHC : prospects circa Snowmass 2021/2022 |
Résumé |
Heavy neutrinos remain a viable (and popular) solution to the origin of neutrinos' absurdly tiny masses and their potential Majorana nature. If they exist, there are far-reaching consequences for model building, cosmology, nuclear physics, and particle physics. After briefly introducing the idea of heavy neutrinos for a broader audience, I will review the status of ongoing searches at the Large Hadron Collider for sterile neutrinos. I will also present state-of-the-art projections for the LHC's high luminosity upgrade that have been submitted to the European Strategy Update and the Snowmass 2021/2022 exercises. |
