Conformal field theories are constrained by powerful non-perturbative consistency
conditions, which implies striking universal behavior of observables in asymptotic
regimes. In this talk, I will survey such features in unitary two-dimensional CFTs
with c>1. In particular, leveraging modular invariance, we will derive a rigorous
asymptotic formula for the density of states and establish sharp bounds on the
asymptotic spacing between states. A key consequence is that the large-spin
spectrum becomes densea tentative signal for chaotic structurefor unitary CFTs
with central charge c>1 and a twist gap in the spectrum of Virasoro primaries. If
time permits, I will also outline some ongoing work toward uncovering semi-
universal behavior in higher-dimensional unitary CFTs. |
