Collective and single particle dynamics of liquid water |

Résumé |
I will report on recent studies of the microscopic dynamics of liquid water as probed by Inelastic X Ray Scattering at relatively high momentum transfers, q, (10 nm-1 ≤ q ≤30 nm-1). The phenomenology associated to structural relaxations will be described in detail. Moreover, I will show the presence of transverse modes in the spectral line-shape, discussing their evolution with both the temperature and the exchanged wavenumber.
In the second part of my talk, I will show how Quasielastic Neutron scattering can be successfully employed to study some intriguing anomalies related to the single particle diffusion of liquid water
