Résumé |
We are investigating open string models with boundary electric fields in
the context of toroidal compactification. It has been known that that
these models are non-supersymmetric and have a pair-creation instability.
In the talk I will discuss electric fields in compact spaces. We find that
there are two classes of models depending on whether the angle made by the
electric field with one of the axes of the torus is quantised or not.
Furthermore we point out that in models with several stacks of branes
there can be oblique sectors, that is strings strethed between
non-parallel electric fields. I will show the quantisation of these
sectors; they realise in principle a Thomas precession effect for open
strings. |
