Titre | Self-propelling liquid pearls |
Résumé | Liquid pearls are drops that hardly wet their substrate. This situation makes it difficult to control them (control of drops is most often triggered by some property at the solid surface). However, since the pearls minimize both their adhesion and friction, even tiny forces can generate spectacular motion which we describe in two different contexts: drops on hot plates, and dew drops on cold ones. |
