Titre Colliding light, tau g–2, and axion dark matter
Résumé Recent advances in new physics searches creatively bridge distinct fields, from nuclear and flavour physics to astronomy and quantum technologies. The electron and muon anomalous magnetic moments (g–2) are among the most precisely tested quantities in nature. However, tau g–2 remains shrouded in mystery but can be 280 times more sensitive to new physics than the muon. Recently, CMS and ATLAS pioneered groundbreaking tau g–2 measurements by observing tau pairs created via photon collisions in LHC heavy-ion data. Beyond colliders, limitations with existing axion searches motivate the Broadband Reflector Experiment for Axion Detection (BREAD) program at Fermilab. BREAD opens axion and hidden photon dark matter sensitivity above microwave frequencies that has long eluded conventional haloscopes.
