Titre | High pressure studies on strongly interacting electron systems |
Résumé | In some materials where the electrons interact strongly the conventional ordered state can be dramatically altered and new quantum ordered states can occur, including unconventional forms of superconductivity. A rich discovery arena for such new ordered states has been in systems which are on the verge of magnetic long range order. It is possible to see the evolution in to these new states in suitable high purity materials by the precise tuning of the lattice density by the application of hydrostatic pressure. Pressure can be used to push magnetic materials in to the new quantum states. Consideration will be given to a number of d-metal ferromagnetic materials. Resistivity measurements at low temperature in high pressure anvil cells will also be presented. In addition improvements to transport measurements at high pressure will be shown. |
