The holographic correspondence between AdS(2) guantum gravity and CFT(1) conformal quantum
mechanics is different from other examples of holography and remains poorly understood. In the
last few years a precise version of AdS(2)/CFT(1) duality was developed using conformal
perturbation theory away from the strict AdS(2) limit. We study this ``nearly AdS(2) limit in the
context of supergravity and show that it is controlled by a novel attractor mechanism. This
establishes a precise map between the moduli space of nearly extremal black holes and their
corresponding microscopic descriptions. |
