Titre | Generalization of the Central Limit Theorem to strongly correlated systems using the functional renormalization group |
Résumé | The Central Limit Theorem is both one of the most important theorems in probability theory and the foundation of many physical approaches to the collective behavior of large numbers of bodies in physics. However, it is limited to situations where the degrees of freedom involved are either independent of each other or only weakly correlated. Cases of strong correlations, encountered for example in the vicinity of a critical phenomenon, require a different approach, and we will show that the functional renormalization group is very well suited to this study. A general introduction to this modern version of the renormalization group a la Wilson will be given in this seminar. |
